Windows Journal
Windows Journal is similar to sticky notes except you can have longer notes and include other types of data. It can be used with a tablet pc so you can use the stylus to take down notes or memos. To open Windows Journal, open the control panel, then under programs, accessories, tablet pc, click on the Windows Journal shortcut. For tablet pcs, you can use the touchscreen options such as tapping the pen onto various parts of the screen and toolbar to perform various functions. If you have a pressure sensitive screen you will be able to choose an option to have a pen or highlighter pressure sensitive. To do this, click on the arrow next to the pen icon and then click pen settings. If you have the correct type of screen, you can choose which type of pen to work with pressure sensitivity. When you first start Windows Journal you will have to install the Journal Note Writer print driver.
Click install and it should continue automatically and you should see that the print driver has been installed quickly.
You should then see the main Windows Journal screen with a blank page and various options at the toolbar on top of the screen. These options include creating a new page, viewing recent notes, saving notes, importing notes, finding an item in a document, cut, copy, paste, redo, undo, changing the page width, choosing different a thickness for pens, choosing a different thickness and colors for highlighters, different thickness for an eraser, a selection tool, insert or remove a space and adding a flag.
When using Windows Journal, you will notice that you can either write by hand (using a pen or if you are not using a tablet pc, a mouse) or by typing in the notes into a textbox area. You can also add clippings such as pictures and arrange this is any layout that you would like.
You may also notice a note title section at the top of the document. This can be written out by hand and Windows Journal has an advanced handwriting recognition system that should recognize various types of handwrititng so when you go to save your document, it should have the title of the doument written out in text.
